Newport News Redevelopment & Housing Authority (NNRHA) operates 10 Asset Management properties with 12 communities in Newport News, administers the Residential Rehabilitation Tax Abatement Program, the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program, acquires property for redevelopment, awards property rehabilitation loans and grants, and manages Newport News' Consolidated Housing and Community Development programs.

NNRHA has established a strong working relationship with Public and Private organizations to strive to meet the needs of housing residents and the community.

Seven Commissioners serve as the governing body of NNRHA and are the foundation for the Authority's actions and accomplishments. Each Commissioner, who must reside in Newport News, is appointed for a 4-year term by the Newport News City Council and may serve a total of 8 consecutive years. One Commissioner must be a public housing resident. The Board meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month in the NNRHA offices. Karen Wilds is the Executive Director.
