& Housing Authority (NNRHA)
operates 13 public housing communities in Newport News, administers a Section 8 Program, acquires property for redevelopment, awards loans and grants, and manages Newport News' Consolidated Housing and Community Development programs.

NNRHA has established a strong working relationship with Public and Private organizations to strive to meet the needs of the housing residents and the community.

Karen Wilds assumed the position of Executive Director on December 1, 1999. Seven Commissioners serve as the governing body of NNRHA and are the foundation for the Authority's actions and accomplishments. Each Commissioner, who must reside in Newport News, is appointed for a 4-year term by the Newport News City Council and may serve a total of 8 consecutive years. One Commissioner must be a public housing resident. The Board meets once each month in the NNRHA offices.
